Recent hype for me : Dangan Ronpa!
Really love this game and the concept behind it.
A quick (& brief) summary for readers who have not played this game :
So basically a group of high schoolers who are master in their own field were brought to Academy Of Hope who are only meant for the elites. In the game, you control a high school boy who got into the school through luck, and thus is deemed as the "Super high school level luckster". Upon stepping into the school gate, what lies before him is in fact a world of despair, where 16 students are plunged into a game to kill each other ,and would only be allowed to "graduate" and leave the school upon being successful in wriggling their way out of their crime.
This is the official game poster,, as shown below.
It took me about three days to finish the game, and super
thank you Sijun for downloading the game and the translation patch, and lending me your psp
It is indeed a meaningful monthsary present hee hee. I think this type of present suits me better, as compared to luxurious gifts, dinner or movie.
Anyway, i really love the concept of this game, and the last time i had such a hots for a series was Zone-00, even though technically Zone-00 is a manga whilst Dangan Ronpa is a game (now into an anime adaption). The core of this game revolves around the concept of "Despair", which i strangely, found new attachment and meaning to it after i finished the game. You know, humans are pretty complicated creatures, and emotions are one of the many factors which can affect our thought processes, actions, and sometimes even bring us to do things we wouldn't even think about under normal circumstances.
This game brought alive, in a way or another, the exploration of the most inner layer of the emotional struggle when Man are forced to plan a murder, in the name of Despair. What attracted me most about this game is not about the class trial at the end of each murder, the character design (but i must say Celest is wonderfully drawn), or the popularity of it. It is perhaps, the reasoning the mastermind uses to plan and execute the entire game-play (which i am not spoiling!)
It is a game worth playing, and the ending would really leave you speechless because that was not what you would had expected. The punishments are also interesting and well, painful i guess.
Junko is my favorite character in the game, partially because we share the same name, and also because we are alike in a way - we feel that having the same personality all the time is boring. Even though we both maintain the "main" personality most of the times, we are similar in the sense that we derive fun from being different.
Her reason was simply because she was bored i guess, but for me it was more of like, how i don't like to be put in a category. I like to have my own category, and people can't guess what my next reaction would be, or how i would play my ways around. I like to be a surprise, and catch people unawares. I guess that's me!
I like Celestia because of #1)Name , #2)Character Design , #3)Her high school level ability, which is gambler. Her approach towards the situation was pretty calm, and she adopted the "adopting to your surrounding is key" as her mindset through the game. However, she is such a good liar that sometimes she even trick herself in believing things that are not truth. I felt a connection to her in this, because i always think that "to lie, you must first be fooled".
How can you present a lie when you yourself, knows the truth? Immerse yourself as one of the crowd, and be lied to like the rest. In this way, you react the same as them, and you believe in the lie itself, and hence your actions and thoughts process would be the most genuine.
I don't particularly dislike any characters, though i find Maizona to be whiny and useless. But the plot changed my mindset too as it goes. I'm not posting any spoilers so don't worry!
But i really wish that people who are going to cosplay as Junko knows that here are two "Junko". So yeah, know your characters before you cosplay!
Really sad when people just bam! and cosplay characters which they have little to no knowledge of, Wells, just saying.
